The mod aims to be more similar to the tabletop game, and it's very in-depth. It's Skirmish only, but it has highly detailed models, many new units, greatly improved sound FX, and smaller scale, highly tactical battles. Mod-wise, the first one that comes to mind with what you've mentioned is Firestorm Over Kaurava, (there's a version for DC too). ini file somewhere that you can edit to 'force' the game to that resolution.
It's been a long while since I've played Dark Crusade. You mean your typical 1920x1080 resolution, right? I can't speak for the original DOW1 or Winter Assault, as I've never played them, but you don't need a mod for that, just look in options.
